Monday Mayhem - Ice Storm and Birthday Weekend

Things are finally starting to come back to normal at The Pink Potpourri HQ. Power is restored (THANK YOU LORD!) at our house, we've had a wonderful week of sleep around in gracious homes and a great birthday celebration!!!

I was going to post a little "special giveaway" on Thursday in honor of my birthday, but with no power, that was difficult. Oh well...always next year...

Here are some pictures of the past week. Just a glimpse of what's been goin' on...

This is the tree that fell and pulled down the power lines in our back yard, and broke the gutter on our sunroom. What a blessing that that was the extent of our damage!!!

What do you do when you have a whole week off of work??? GO SLEDDING! But sadly, if my 28th birthday wasn't enough, the sledding experience just proved how old and out of shape I am getting. I about collapsed after walking back up the hill :( And check out my Flyer wooden sled...I bought that sucker for $5 at a garage sale a few years ago!

Friday we headed to The Resort (my parents/grandparents house) for some electricity and birthday celebration! My sister is an art teacher at a middle school, so we went and ate lunch with her and visited her classroom! I got the ever-famous Friday Pizza in the lunch line!

Friday night, Hubby took me out on a surprise birthday date! He took me to dinner at Carrabba's, strolled through Arhaus furniture store, went ice skating (I've been trying to go with him for the past 6 1/2 years!) and went to see New In Town with my sis and her husband. best birthday date ever!!!

And finally, my sister has started extending her artistic skills into cake decorating, so she made me this cake for my birthday. Any idea what it looks like? THE PINK POTPOURRI!!!

Well, its good to be back to the blogging world. I look forward to catching up with all of you!!!

Happy Birthday. Your cake is to die for. So cute.

I'm so glad that fallen tree didn't do more damage, although no power for an extended period is NOT good! Sledding is best when there is someone with 4 wheel drive to take you to the top of the hill. :)

I just found your blog through Pink Pearls & Muddy Sneakers - you have a new follower. Your sister is very artistic - I loved the cake! Now my brain is set on Strawberry cake - since that is what it looks like.
My in-laws are stuck in the storm that just came through KY. I hope you're staying warm!

Happy belated Birthday. Sorry about your power and gutter. The ice pictures are really pretty, (even with the destruction in them.)
28 really isn't too bad. Wait till it's you 37th and you try that. Ughhhh!
