Trendy Tuesday - Leather Decor

I am a big fan of leather. My hubby and I recently purchased a beautiful couch, chair and ottoman set off craigslist from a sweet couple near by. We love it. No turning back now...

I was "dream shopping" through Pottery Barn the other day, and leather is totally in this season for home decor. You can have as little or as much as you like, and it looks warm, inviting, and very nice in a home. Here are a few of my favorite things I saw that are totally hot for this season:

And...if you wanted to buy EVERYTHING like I do, you can put it ALL together nicely like this:

Monday Mayhem - College Retreat

We had an awesome weekend on the College Retreat! My hubby is the college minister at our church, and we had the privilege of taking our students on a retreat this weekend. We ate ourselves silly, played TONS of card games, football, bocci ball, and had some incredible sessions of worship and Bible study. Here are some pics and videos from the weekend:

We started off the trip with a big feast of chips and hot dogs

Followed by an evening of non-stop card playing! We played Go Fish, Spoons, Mafia, Drug Dealer, and a few card tricks (yes, I promise this was a church function, and no actual drugs were involved...)

We also did some team building activities, like this paper maze. Hubby already had a path written out to get through this chart of paper, and we had to work together as a team to guess the path, and remember it!

We also played an intense game of touch football as well as Bocci Ball! I wish I had a picture of the box from bocci ball...its from the 70's and its hysterical :) Anyways, here's the action shot:

Thoughtful Thursdays: Passion

What's YOUR passion?

Webster's dictionary has 5 different definitions for the word. The fifth version says passion is:

"ardent affection : love b: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept c: an object of desire or deep interest
— pas·sion·less
\-ləs\ adjective "

I feel as thought my passions in life change with time. During this current chapter in life, I feel most passionate about providing a warm, welcoming home for my husband, family and friends. Its important to me daily that things look nice, picked up, clean and comforting. I want it to be a place that my husband and others enjoy coming to and feel at rest.

What I strive for:

What I avoid: (and yes, this is the same room...after renovation :)

I am also passionate about creating good meals for Zack or our guests. I love to try new recipes, create different menus, and make appetizing, filling meals for my man who works 10 hour days of manual labor :) So here's what I love to make...

And here's what I try to avoid... (not that I don't make a mean PBJ every so often...)

So, what are your passions in life?
