STONE IS HERE!!! He arrived October 22, 2009...exactly on his due date! Stone is just like his mommy...organized and punctional :) I had planned this whole pregnancy to have him with an epidural...when I arrived at the hospital, they told me that due to medical reasons, I could not have an epidural or push, so I ended up having a c-section after being 7 cm dialated and in labor with no drugs! What a great blessing it all ended up being...he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck TWICE.

Being a mommy has been such an incredible experience so far. Stone is almost 2 weeks old now, and he is on a eat/wake/sleep schedule every three hours, and has even slept 5 hours through the night so far! He is extremely calm, curious, and has a super strong neck. We love him so much!

For the enquiring minds, Baby Stone has still not arrived. Only 3 more days until my DUE DATE!!! I was hoping Stone would want to join us ASAP but apparently the cool fall days and frost-bitten evenings make him want to jump into my rib cage and stay as warm as possible :)

My husband took me on a wonderful date night this weekend, which is exactly what a 9 month pregnant woman needs. He took me to a local pottery painting place and we each decorated a HUGE coffee mug (like the ones in the coffee shop on Friends!) and then out to dinner to settle my chinese food cravings!

Hopefully the next time I post, you will be able to meet precious Stone...I had better not be labeling my next post "41 weeks and counting..." :)

Stone's Nursery

Here are a few pictures of Stone's nursery! Clearly it is not 100% finished...the glider is still in need of the new cushions (coming soon), the bookcase and the changing table are not completely organzied yet, and the stuffed animals are camping out on the table until I can figure out where to put them! But overall, its coming together nicely! I'm at 37 weeks, so Stone could be arriving anytime now!

Last weekend some of my most wonderful church friends threw me a baby shower! Stone and I were showered with so many fabulous baby gifts. I am a very blessed lady :)

My mom, sisters, and dear friends threw me such a WONDERFUL baby shower up in Indy at our church. It was fabulous! They had tons of precious decorations, fun games, delicious food and lots of sweet ladies who attended! Here are just a few pictures from the special day!

The girls from our College Ministry threw us a wonderful baby shower this weekend! They did such a fabulous job hosting, and we all had a wonderful time together at the shower. Here are a few pictures from this weekend:

I am at 30 1/2 weeks! This month is a big squash, but I couldn't find one at the grocery store.

The adorable baby cake! Everyone was talking about the baby on the flower during the shower, as to whether he was edible, and that he was probably made out of fondant or something. When I got home, I took him off the cake to see "Made in China" on the bottom :)

My mom and sisters came down for the shower! I was so glad they could all be there!

A super cute bath robe for Stone. It also came with matching wash clothes and a few puppy outfits!

One of my wonderful, dear friends made a bucket filled with stones, and on each one she wrote a scripture verse or reference mentioning rock or stone. AMAZING!

One of the baby shower games was to take Stone's full name and come up with as many words out of it as possible. I felt horrible, but I am AWESOME at word games...and I proved it. I won :)

Thanks again, ladies, for a wonderful baby shower! Stone loves all his new gifts!

Winning Streak and the Future

I have been on fire with my giveaway winning luck lately! As you will recall a few posts back, I won the BEAUTIFUL gem bracelet from The Glamorous Life of a Housewife. A few days later, I received an email from thebump.com telling me I had won a gift basket from First Impressions!

Well, as you can see, my gift came in! I received a white fluffy bunny, a bib, a yellow sleeper, a white onsie, yellow pants, and another yellow onsie with a matching cap! SO CUTE!!!

Now, onto other business...

Yes, you all read correctly that The Pink Potpourri will be coming to an end very shortly. Probably not permanently, (never say never) but when Stone arrives, I will no longer be working at my job. And currently we are without internet at home. So that is why it will be pretty much impossible for me to do any sort of updating.

Maybe someday I will return to the blogging world. I might come back to The Pink Potpourri and start the daily topic posts again. Or maybe I'll change things up and start a different kind of blog. The possibilites are endless, and my mood and ideas are constantly changing :)

I look forward to keeping you all updated on these final weeks of pregnancy, and am SO very grateful for all of your friendships through the blogging world. Well, clearly, if any of you are still reading my blog, you know I've become horrible at updating :( I know I used to have daily posts, but being pregnant and knowing that The Pink Potpourri will be coming to an end soon has made me lose all motivation to update regularly. Sorry folks.

This weekend we all had a special birthday celebration for my Grandpa for his 85th birthday at one of our favorite restaurants, Capitol Grille! We had our own private dining room, visited several times with the head chef (pictured below) and got to taste several of his favorite recommendations for appetizers and desserts he personally chose and brought out to us!

Grandpa's birthday was actually on Friday, so they celebrated with a cake from our family's all time favorite cake maker, Mrs. Lamb. She made my parent's wedding cake, and we have been buying cakes from her ever since.

My mom and sis and I also did some baby shopping over the holiday weekend, and here I am, pooped from all the shopping, stocking up on nursery things! And being the purse watcher :)

While my mom was in town with me for a few days, she did some shopping for Stone while I was stuck at work. Here are some of her incredible goodies she brought me for the baby! The big dog is the twin of one I had growing up!

4 Years of Wedded Bliss!

Today Husband and I are celebrating our 4 Year Anniversary! I feels like just yesterday we were getting married :)

On July 15, 2004 Hubby proposed to me! He rented our own private canal boat, had a steak dinner served on the boat, we rode the canal through the city during sunset, and got out and danced under the stars where he got on one knee and asked me to marry him :) And we got the whole thing on video!

Baby Bump Update!

Today I am at 25 weeks!

(sorry for the lack of camera quality...its clearly time for a new one...)

From week 25 to 28, Baby Stone will be the average size and weight of an Eggplant (13.6-14.8 inches, 1.5 - 2.2 lbs). I went to the doctor on Tuesday for my monthly appointment, and they said Stone was actually measuring at 26 weeks already! So I will either be giving birth to a toddler, or hopefully he will join our sweet family a bit sooner :)

Baby Stone is a busy little bee in my belly. Some moments, he's quiet and still. Other moments my stomach is changing shapes, is used as a human punching bag from the inside, and during my lucky moments, he figures out how to kick downward on my full bladder (he showed the technician he knew how to do this during my last ultrasound!)

I am so thrilled and blessed to experience the miracle of pregnancy everyday. Yesterday I signed up for all of my baby classes at the hospital...the fact that he is coming is becoming even more real!

Trendy Tuesday - Pacifier Clips

I'm hoping Stone is a big fan of the Binky :) I've seen these pacifer clips in tons of baby shops, and always thought it was a brilliant idea! There are so many cute versions but they are SO expensive. So this weekend I thought I'd try my hand at making my own!

Here's what I came up with...

It wasn't too hard...or too expensive. I got the blue ribbons from Hobby Lobby and they were 50% off. The green camo is from walmart.

I got the clips off of lanyards we had laying around the house...

And covered them with these cute plastic buttons! (sorry...image quality is not too good...those are frogs and monkeys!)

Finally, I attached these buttons on the other end of the ribbon to snap around the loop of the pacifier...

Anyways, it was a fun rainy day project, and I look foward to trying them out on Stone!

I did some much needed shopping this weekend. I am pretty proud of my fantastic finds, and feel a lot happier, as women do, with my new pretty clothes!

First, I must say I LOVE CRAIGSLIST! I've always found GREAT deals, including our leather couch, chair and ottoman, and a few items for the baby! This week I happened to find this Fisher Price Rainforest Jumparoo which I was registered for. At Babies R U it is priced at $90.00! I got one from a family for $50...and it was barely used!

PS...do any of you have this one? Do you know how to remove the seat so it can be washed in the laundry? It has laundering instructions on the tag, so their HAS to be a way to get it out...I just can't figure out how!

As for some new fun clothes, Old Navy is having a great sale! I got these two maternity pieces for 50% off!

I also discovered this weekend that finding maternity clothes (that are not overly priced) is a nightmare! Its not fun to shop anymore in my normally favorite places because they do not carry ANYTHING for us preggos. Even Target was sllllliiiiimmm pickins. Any suggestions?

Monday Mayhem - Productive Weekend

I'm now at almost 23 weeks! My 22 week picture is arriving a little late, but better late than never, right? And don't ask me why, but for some reason the Mango this week appears to be smaller than the cantelope at 20 weeks. I don't pick out the fruit...The Bump does...I just pose with them :)

We had a very efficient, productive weekend! Friday evening we tackled our front yard. Hubby cut down this huge, annoying, in -the-way tree, and I did lots of weed pulling and hedge trimming. I have a fantastic video of the Husband with his chain saw in action cutting down the tree, but I recorded it sideways and don't know how to change it on here.

I really should have taken a REAL "after" when everything was cleaned up. It looks fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen our neighbor's yard until now. And when we set on the front porch, we can see so much more now that the tree and other "junk" is cleared out!

In other news, we started our registry at Babies R Us this weekend! I'm still making some adjustments. Why in the world do we need a jumping swing, an excersaucer, a bouncy chair and a baby swing??? And which is best? Ohhhh the decisions. Husband did remarkably well lasting through our registry. I armed him with a Sweet Tea, only asked him to help with the major items, let him hold the Gun and do all the physical work like folding, pulling, snapping, and trying out :)

A few weeks ago, I did a secret shop job of price comparisons that paid us a nice $300! So we treated ourselves with this new video camera for Lil' Pumpkin!!! It's called The Flip...and it is amazing.

As you can see, it is tiny, HD, has like 3 buttons, and as soon as you've recorded something, you pop out the USB and plug it into your computer and you can save it or send it or post it on You Tube. It has a pretty good focus. Its perfect for all of Baby's Things! They don't recommend it for outdoor, moving events, such as his first soccer game, but we have about 3 years before we'll need that anyways :)

Trendy Tuesday - Are Converse Still All-Stars?

Husband and I went to the mall last night for a few purchases, and I noticed that Converse is everywhere! Maybe they never phased out completely, but it sure seems they are back on the popular side.

It is amazing the HUGE selection of styles and prints they've come out with now since those converse high tops I remember...apparently you can even design your own shoe now!

I can remember when I was in Junior High I had these exact pair...

And I'm pretty sure the rule of thumb is, if you've already worn it as a style during your lifetime once, you're probably too old to pull it off when it comes back around...

But luckily Converse has come out with such a wide variety, I can go with a different style this time, right? I think I would be one hot momma in these...

Since I will reluctantly be giving up these....

Monday Mayhem - Success!

I had a very successful weekend...we finally found a crib! We are very happy with our selection and can't wait to get started on the nursery! Hope you can handle the suspense...I will not be revealing our selection until the final nursery walk through!

I was also successful in several other purchases over the weekend...

My new maternity swimsuit! My goal is to start the water aerobics class this week...

A cherry glider and ottoman for $25 from craigslist! (this is NOT the actual picture...) The one I bought will most definitly need to be reupholsterd. Before and After pics to come!

A First Years bassinet (again, NOT the actual picture). I got the bassinet at a garage sale for $10! This not the exact style either... the one i got is a cream color with a handle bar that has a light, music and makes the basket vibrate. the basket is removable to carry, and a changing table is underneath! GREAT deal for 10 bucks :)

The next item on my agenda list...finding crib bedding!

"Think, think, think..." - Pooh Bear

Here are a few thoughts on my mind today...

-Lil' Pumpkin, why are you movin' and shakin' so much lately? Between last night and this morning, I think my innards might be bruised :) Whatever you're boppin' to in there, please kindly share it with the rest of us!

-Tonight is crib shopping! I'm super excited. And we're also trying out Taco Bell's new Pina Colada!

-I can't shake the bad dream I had last night...I guess it comes with the pregnancy. I dreamt that we went back to Husband's high school to visit, and while we were there, a guy gave him a free motorcycle! I got so mad at him for getting the motorcycle and he got mad at me for not being supportive...

-So You Think You Can Dance was aweeeeesome last night. I miss dancing.

-I'm very pleased with the torrentail downpours of rain we've received these past few days. We haven't had to water our lawn once yet :)

-What is that new movie called that is coming out with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds and they end up having to get married? And when does it come out?

I just wanted to shout out a quick THANK YOU for all of your comments yesterday on my Cloth Diaper questions. You all were so very sweet to give me so much helpful information. It will be a lot easier to make an informed decision on this, and I hope many others of you benefited from these experienced mom's knowledge!

I am a huge fan of game shows, so I this video is pretty funny. Being an actual game show contestant myself, I can relate to some of these people. It is hard to be in the pressure of being on a national tv show, with a live audience and the cameras rolling! You can't even think straight!

Trendy Tuesday - Cloth Diapers...help!

A big new trend I've heard about lately is cloth diapers, instead of disposable ones. Instead of me sharing some great things about this new trend, I need YOUR HELP!!!

Have you used cloth diapers??? Husband and I are trying to make the decision as to go that route, or fork over the extra money and go disposable...I'm hoping there are some of you ladies out there (or guys, if any read this blog) that can give me your experience and wisdom!!!

A few questions...

-What brand did you use?
-If you could go back and do it all over, would you still use cloth?
-Was it worth saving money?
-Did you find it a hassle, or did it become no big deal after the first few uses?
-What kind of process with use and cleaning does cloth diapers entail?

I would greatly appreciate anything you can share on this. I think myself and others can greatly benefit from all of us sharing our wisdom and knowledge on this!

Monday Mayhem: Exhausted

What a fabulous weekend...we took our college students to Houseboat Camp where we tie up a few houseboats together, bring plenty of boats, tubes, skis and food and "camp out" for the weekend!

We had a blast...I got tons of sun, ate too many s'mores, did not step foot in the river AT ALL, and enjoyed the fellowship so very much with these wonderful people.

But I am now feeling the consequences of a weekend of fun...I am EXHAUSTED.

I'm so tired my body feels like I'm sick. You know that feeling? It takes everything you have just to function normal. Luckily my boss is out of town today, so it should be pretty slow in the office.

So that is why my blog is short, sweet, and to the point today. Sorry...no pictures :( But I will mostly be spending my day coming by and visiting YOUR blog! I'm looking forward to lots of wonderful reads to keep my eyes open for the next....8 hours and 20 minutes...

Pregnancy Count: 20 weeks!

Today I have reached the 20 week mark! Half way there :) This afternoon I have an ultrasound, so I'm really looking foward to seeing Lil' Pumpkin and his progress. Of course we already cheated and found out his sex at 17 weeks, so this appointment isn't quite as exciting. But don't worry, I STILL am bringing a VHS tape to record his every move!

Holy Cow, I couldn't believe that 20 weeks is a cantelope! According to thebump.com, at 20 weeks the baby is measuring 6.5 inches and 10 oz. Last night I was laying on the couch and Lil' P was hoppin' and boppin' around...I could see my stomach poking out in random locations! I was watching So You Think You Can Dance at the time, so he must be a dancer...who will also be a professional basketball player for the NBA :)

Hilarities - Fez's Vacation

While we were at the wedding last week, my parents were kind enough to let our dog Fez come and stay at the Resort with them and their dog, Ellie.

My mom reported that Fez was an excellent guest at the Resort. She and my Dad kept him very busy...every morning started with wrestling and fetch with puppy toys, an extensive walk around the neighborhood, followed by Arts & Crafts:

I think his masterpiece fish freaked him out a little bit. When your artwork can swallow your snout, there's a legitimate reason to be worried...

Fez also did some lounging around. Grandpa's lap was a very comfortable napping spot after all of the morning activities:

After lunch, it was playtime again! Fez always loves going to the Resort where Ellie lives, because at our house, he has permanently been banned from all plush squeaky toys. He rips them apart, de-fluffs their innards and chews up the squeaker within minutes. El has a complete collection of softies, so Fez takes advantage of them...is it just me, or does he have a look of an evil plot on his face for this mouse?!?

After dinner, it is time for cake. Fez knows he can work his magic with the puppy eyes and score a lick or two of cake icing...He and Ellie are claiming their piece from the leftover cake on the table:

And finally, after running circles in the back yard with everyone to burn off the sugar high, it is time for bed. Fez apparently had an issue with his sleeping arragements throughout the week. He had a chance to sleep with my parents in their bed, but ruined it when he snuck under the sheets and laid right where my mom's legs were. Next, Ellie's room...but his whining early in the morning got him kicked out. Finally, he got a bedroom all to himself...

I'm pretty sure Fez is bummed to be home with his old parental units. I think he'd much rather be back at the Resort, where he has another doggie companion, daily morning walks, at least 3 people in the house at every hour of the day, and of course, Arts & Crafts :)

Trendy Tuesday - Natural Highlights

I L-O-V-E laying out in the sun. Unhealthy, I know. But you only live once :)

Only once in my entire life have I ever had my hair highlighted from a professional. Never used a box. Never went back to the hair salon. My hair has always stayed its natural color, with a little help from some lemon juice and the sunrays and chlorine in the summer.

I'm curious to see if there are any other ways to enhance natural highlights in hair over the summer. Here are a few ways I've heard you can do it:

Lemon Juice: Spray on to wet hair and brush through before going out into the sun.

There are also lots of John Frieda Beach Blonde products that are amazing...

An egg bath: Eggs help moisturize hair because they contain lecithin. Simply beat an egg, apply it to your hair when dry and then cover with a plastic bag. Allow the egg to sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing in cool water.

What tricks have you tried? What works best for your hair?

Monday Mayhem - Back to Busyness

My mini vaca has sadly come to an end. Sometimes when I go on a vacation, I reach a point where I'm ready to come home...back to my bed, my regular daily grind, and my responsibilities. Not so much on this trip. Husband had to pull me from my kung-fu grip to get me on the airplane :(

We had such a fabulous time! Here are a few pictures from our weekend and the beautiful wedding. We were able to see several friends we haven't seen since we moved 3 years ago. It was like we never left. We had a relaxing time of fellowship, celebration, food, sun and dancing!

Husband was one of the two Best Men at the wedding. The groom, other best man and he were all pledge brothers in college as well as roommates throughout those years. Best friends!

He should seriously be a model for GQ, don't you think? :)

It was a beautiful outdoor wedding on a golf course overlooking the lake. Although it was a 5 pm wedding on a 93 degree day with no breeze. All I can say is I'm glad I wasn't wearing one of those tuxes...

The reception was in the country club. It was a beautiful sit down dinner with a huge chocolate fountain bar!

Here is Husband, the Groom and the other Best Man. They all pledged their fraternity together in college, and became roommates for the next 3 years!

Memorial Day and Vaca

We had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! My sister and her husband came down to visit for the weekend, and we had a surprise visit/slumber party with my parents and other sister. We managed to fit 7 grown adults in a 2 bedroom house with one bed, one air mattress, two couches and a twin mattress :)

Here are a few pictures from our weekend (I say a few...and I promise between all 3 cameras, these ARE just a few!)

Everytime a new guest comes and stays with us in the ville, we take them to one of our most favorite restaurants that pretty much sums up our city...Lynn's Paradise Cafe! Oprah calls their Mac & Cheese her most favorite!

Our new tradition we have started is each guest has to pick out a hat and sunglasses and have their photo taken!

Zack and I didn't want to miss out...we've pretty much worn every hat, so we went with a new look...

Another favorite restaurant of ours is Captain's Quarters. They are on the river right at the marina, so we can sit out on the deck, watch the sunset and pick out our dream boat! Husband's birthday is TODAY but we celebrated early at the restaurant and got a chocolate molten cake!

We did some shopping one of our favorite streets. My sis and her husband found lots of fun things. I now know what to get them for their anniversary this year...

We grilled out chicken and steak for a delicious lunch!

Sunday evening we all decided to go bowling and hit up the arcades. We had a fabulous time! My dad scored the highest of the whole evening with 187...he got 5 strikes in a row!

After bowling, we hit up the arcades...nothing like 7 grown adults scrambling around with coins and tickets, playing these fantastic kids games :) And we all got a goodie bag of prizes!

After dinner, the clumsy me that I am accidentally walked into a rotating glass door. The door slid over my little tootsies and it was not a pretty site. My husband came to the rescue and bandaged me up!

We had such a wonderful weekend with our great family. They are terriffic!

Thoughtful Thursdays - God's Perfect Timing

A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003, TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001.
His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport (on Sept. 11), we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire.

I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. Both very upset, we drove home. I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight. My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for I have to do something.'

I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up. Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my grandchild. Those were the last word's I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.

My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.

Then something happened. About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child. The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son..'

He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack. She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know.' His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ. I began sobbing at the news.

Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves.

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live.

This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control. We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control. Please take time to share this amazing story. You may never know the impact it may have on someone. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

If you watch America's Funniest Home Videos, you've probably seen this. But I am posting this video in honor of my husband today. This is one of his all time most favorite videos. (The other is also from AFV where the dog growls at his back paw as he chews on his bone).

Trendy Tuesday - Skype

My husband is a HUGE fan of Skype. It is a free service to talk to others on your computer by using a web cam. We tried it out the other night and it was incredible. Both parties must have a web cam, and you can talk to them through your computer like you would on the phone, but you can actually see each other!

It was really cool talking to his family. It was like we were sitting across the table from them having a conversation! Since they are 12 hours away from us, it was really neat to be able to see them as we caught up.

Do you use Skype? Or something similar? What are your thoughts?

Monday Mayhem - 60 Years

As you know, we've been having lots of wonderful celebrations with my grandparents over the past few weeks, and this one was most special. This past Friday, my grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary! I know what you're thinking, "They don't look old enough! Did they marry when they were 12?" :)

These flowers were on the altar Sunday morning at their church in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary! I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least 60 roses in there!

To kick off the celebration, Saturday evening we ate dinner at our favorite restaurant, Ruth's Chris! We've had many a celebratory meals there together, so it was the perfect place. We even requested our favorite waiter, Curtis.

His wife hand picked these beautiful flowers from their personal garden to be at our table for the occassion!

Husband and I love Ruth's Chris :) yuuummm....I could eat there everyday. Can I play the pregnancy card to request a filet for dinner every night??? OK, how about at least after I give birth? :)

My mom came up with this fantastic idea for an anniversary gift...a few months back, she sent letters to over 60 of her parents friends, telling them that their anniversary was approaching and that she would be making a book of letters from all of their dear friends. She got an overwhelming response of replys, and was able to gift them this very special and memorable book!

We all had a fabulous evening looking through the letters of response and reading their thoughtful words and favorite memories of my grandparents. It was one of the best gifts I've ever seen!

And finally, on a baby note, Lil' Pumpkin is a BOY! (check out Friday's post if you haven't already read it). My sis and her husband gifted Punk' with these super cute outfits...

When my grandmother was pregnant with my mom, she bought this beautiful receiving blanket at L.S. Ayers (when it existed back then!) and brought her home in it. Well, it was handed down to my mom when she had all three of us girls, and was gifted to us to use when we bring Lil' Pumpkin home from the hospital! It will continue to be passed around to each of us girls as we produce them more grandchildren :) What an excellent family tradition! Kind of a wedding "something borrowed" thing!

That's right, Lil' Pumpkin is a B-O-Y!!!

We couldn't be more thrilled, especially husband :)

I am now at 17 weeks, and was able to go in for a 3D/4D ulstrasound to discover that we will be having a son! This week, Lil' Pumpkin is the size of an onion...

My u/s was at 8 am, we headed to Starbucks for a sugar-filled meal to get baby moving around. I scarfed down a cinnamon coffee cake and a grande hot chocolate with whipped cream. Hope you enjoyed that sugar rush, Lil' Pumpkin, cause Momma NEVER eats like that...

Dad, myself and Husband!

So of course after Lil' Pumpkin cooperated and we were 99% its a BOY, shopping was next on the list! I've never shopped for a little boy before, so having Dad on the prowl (Husband had to go back to work) was such a great help. He picked out lots of great outfits, including the blue argyle sweater vest set!

Next we hit up Baby Gap where they had tons of stuff on sale, and then another 25% off! I think I got close to $80 worth of clothes for $15!!!

Next stop, Babies R Us for some more crib shopping. Any advice on cribs? We know the style we like, and the color, but just have not nailed down a specific one yet. Mom and I had so much fun doing the "crib shake test" on the floor samples :)

And finally, here are a few snapshots from the u/s of our little Boy. Here's a profile with his little fingers. On the video, the tech said he was busy trying to get his hands to his mouth, and was doing a great job!

She also informed us that his legs are measuring that of a 20 week baby...we are only at 17!!! We are pretty sure our little boy is going to be in the NBA :)

Monday Mayhem - Mothers Day

Husband surprised this Mommy-to-Be with a wonderful Mother's Day gift! I had no idea he was going to get me anything. He did get some help from one of our church ladies as to where to find such a present, and her guidance was right on target :)

Husband went to the baby store, Rabbit in the Moon and got me my....

DIAPER BAG!!! This particular item is one that I have steered clear of in the shopping area, as the few I've seen I did not like. I had no idea what I wanted, or what I should get. Thank goodness, because I LOVE this one! Its super cute, gender neutral and the perfect size!

Husband also got another cute gift...a "p" silver magnet to hang our child's work on the fridge (or pictures or whatever) and also a "baby" key chain to put on my keys or on the diaper bag!

What a sweet and loving husband. He's the best. And of course I also recieved the pumpkin stamp from my sister (you can read about it in Friday's Post) as well as a Willow Tree figurine of a mommy-to-be from my parents! We have another Willow Tree figurine of a husband and wife we recieved for our wedding, so it is becoming a perfect set!

Awards Banquet

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, last night I headed home to attend my Grandpa's awards banquet for the Indiana Dental Association. This is the second year in a row we have attended this event for his acceptance of an award.

This year he received the American College of Dentists Ethics Award. If you have super vision, you can read about it in this picture...

This is a picture of my Grandpa after he received his award and gave an exceptional acceptance speech. He had so many kind things to say about others and did a phemonimal job without using any notes! We are all so very proud of him!!!

After the award ceremony, we all went down for the dinner. They had a huge buffet with roast beef, chicken, fish, and our most favorite...mashed potatoes served in martini glasses. It's like a Mashed Potatoe Sundae bar!

The three girls! We all love our husbands/fiance, but it was so fun to have just the three of us girls together again without any boys :)

Well, a favorite drink of our family's since childhood is a Shirley Temple. Since none of us drink alcohol, this was the drink of choice for the evening for our table! Well, unlike the alcohol side effects, too many Shirley Temples can cause a major sugar high...

I have about 10 pictures of my sisters and I acting goofy, but to hang onto some dignity, I'm only posting one. For some reason, we felt that this was an appropriate time to take each others pictures on our cell phones for when that person calls.

We had a fabulous evening! What an honor it was to get to share in the celebration of my grandfather and his accomplishments. We were so glad to get to be a part of this special evening with him, and are so very proud of his hard work and dedication to dentistry, teaching, and all of his coworkers and patients over the years!

On a final note, my sister (who is an art guru) made me this pumpkin stamp! She used it on the homemade Mother's Day Card and gifted me the actual stamp she carved herself! We have been calling our baby Lil' Pumpkin since my Dad used to call me "punk" (short for pumpkin) and also because our baby is due in October. So that is why she created this Mother and Baby Pumpkin stamp! Thanks, Gebbs!

Tonight I am driving up to my hometown to accompany my Grandpa to an awards banquet. This is the second year he's been nominated and won an award for this specific dentistry group (I don't have enough fingers and toes to count alllll the awards he's received!)

The G's (Grandma and Grandpa) are exceptional people, who I strive to be more like each day. Being in their 80's, they are in a special time of life. They do less than they used to, not the same things as the rest of us, but yet still keep that special bond with all of us.

15 Weeks! Lil' Pumpkin is the size of a Navel Orange!

We had a wonderful weekend! My parents came down on Saturday and we went out to lunch with them. They announced that they will be gifting us Lil' Pumpkin's crib! So as soon as we devoured our KFC, we headed over to Babies R' Us for some furniture shopping!

Husband, the fam and myself checked out every single crib floor model available! Research is still continuing on which style we'll go with (so if you have any tips/experiences, it would be GREATLY appreciated!)

We also checked out some rockers...

Did you know that these bad boys recline??? That's why they're $500...

Next we headed over to the stroller aisle. I've been very interested in the Chicco strollers, but wanted to do some comparisons between those and Graco. I've heard great things about both brands.

Well...who knew that figuring out how to fold and unfold a baby stroller could be close to impossible? It took 4 grown adults, one of which can take the entire Jeep engine apart and put it back together....to finally figure out how this thing works!

Our facial expressions pretty much explain it all...

As you can see in the picture below, we finally gave up on trying to unfold the darn thing (its on the right) and did some comparison shopping...

But the funny thing was that after spending all that time and trying out about 4 other strollers, we actually found that the Chicco was the best! Once we figured out how to close and open that thing, it actually was lighter and easier than any of our comparison testers.

And on a final note, my great friend an J. Leigh Designs recently posted a blog about Bebe Au Lait hooter hiders that they have a Mother's Day special going on...order any of their covers and get two free burp cloths! So my parents got me this super cute cover and free burp cloths!

Thoughtful Thursday - Birds and Carnations

Last night as we were eating chicken fajitas in our sunroom, I glanced out our window and spotted a family of birds who had set up camp on our gutter. As I got a closer look, the momma bird was feeding her baby bird supper!

I whipped out my camera to get the perfect "action shot" and she flew away. But here you can see the momma bird cleaning up after her babies after a delicious meal of freshly picked worm, and the babies squaking for more!

As I watched this momma bird, I started thinking about how she has a responsiblity as a momma to make the nest, feed these babies and clean up after them. But what makes her different is you don't see her flying off to her neighbor bird, complaining how messy the kids were, or that she has to go find another worm, when she would rather be perched on the local McDonalds collecting french fries.

Believe it or not, this momma bird motivated me. She has a responsiblity, she does it diligently without complaining, and she always gives 110%. I need to be like that. I may not be a mom yet, but I have plenty of responsibilites I can be applying this towards now.

***In other news, BABY CARNATION STATUS! I must say, the color predictor did me no good. The last three carnations, 2 pink and 1 blue, all died at the same time! (The picture makes them look like they may still have some life left, but trust me, they're as dead as a doornail).

But as I told my mom about this, she said that maybe its a prediction of the future...maybe we'll have 3 kids...2 girls and a boy :) Only time will tell! Only TWO WEEKS will tell...that's right...TWO WEEKS from today we'll know the sex of Lil' Pumpkin!

Trendy Tuesday - Moon Shoes

Remember when you were a kid and you weren't cool if you weren't running down your sidewalk in these moon shoes? My sisters and I had a pair...I think we looked pretty dumb but felt like we were the coolest thing since sliced bread!

Well, like all trends, I assumed that would fade away. But no. Last night hubby and I went to our local park for a peaceful picnic dinner (plus the fact is was 82 degrees in our house since the AC is broken). We're sitting there eating and this lady in her late 50's jogs/hops/bounces past us on these:

Apparently these are the new trend for higher impact work outs. I've seen the more stilt-like versions in entertainment venues, but not in my local park for working out. Will everyone be wearing these by 2020?

Monday Mayhem - Lil' Pumpkin's Growing Stash & Baby Carnation Status

The highlight of my pregnancy so far has been the showering of gifts for Lil' Pumpkin. Although all these things are for our baby, I am greedily enjoying these presents for myself! But I'm sure Lil' P will appreciate them just as much :)

I headed to The Resort this weekend to attend a friend's wedding and spend some time with the fam. While I was there, I received so many fun things! (PS...pay NO attention to the make-up-less preggo woman...focus on the cute baby gifts!)

The G's (my grandparents) got me several summer maternity tops in pink, peach and blue!

Mom and Dad gifted us some fun and super cute baby items! I've already cracked open the book, learning what to expect and what to purchase! They also got Lil' Pumpkin its very first book! And of course, every child needs a RUBBER DUCKIE! (rubber duckie, you're the one. You make bathtime so much fun!)

Based on this next photo, you might think I've lost all self control in eating healthy, but there's a reason for 4 boxes of cookies. I LOVE Archway Molasses cookies! And last time I was at home, my parents discovered that Archway has discontinued making them :( But apparently my super shopper parents were able to find the 4 last boxes known to man :)

LOOK how cute this reindeer fleece is! OH my goodness. Our baby is going to be the CUTEST thing ever! Look at the little reindeer heads on the feet!

After all the gift opening, we headed out back for the first fishing of the season. We were very sucessful in catching many "baby fish" and getting the bass to come around, but unsuccessful in catching the bass :( but at least we know they're here and hungry this season!

All cleaned up and ready to go to the wedding! It was a wonderful ceremony at a beautiful church!

And finally, to make up for all of my NO make up photos, here's another one of my super cute maternity dresses my parents got me! I wore it to church on Sunday and got SO many compliments! Its good to feel beautiful when you're not feeling so thin anymore :)

BABY CARNATION UPDATE!!! Well, the weekend provided some activity of the flowers. It is harder to see on these pictures than in person, but it appears we've got some wiltage going on here. 2 blue and 1 pink have turned toward the wiltage side. And below that, you'll see that 2 pink and 1 blue are standing strong!

I'm still sick today. Can't breathe. Can't sleep. Can't keep my eyes open. Can't think straight.

What is slowly moving around in my brain is...

-Why won't this head cold go away? Why doesn't Claritin work???

-I am SO HAPPY about the weather being in the 80's this weekend!

-I think Fez might be having a low-key day today...he was abundantly served with human food last night by all our college students. He was the entertainment of the evening!

-Cereal is not as good when you get to the bottom of the box. Its all crumbs. Its like "cereal backwash"

I usually have more thoughts than this, but the snot/drainage has taken up all my brain space in my head :(

On a happier ending note, BABY CARNATION STATUS: exactly the same. I'm almost convinced these bad boys are immortal. How long do carnations live? Apparently this baby-sex predictor does not want to share its secrets sooner than later! When there is a significant change, I'll be sure to post a picture!

Thoughtful Thursday: Baby Carnations

***NOTE!!! I just wanted to thank ALLLL of you for your sweet, loving and encouraging comments from Monday's announcement that we're having a baby! I do wish I had enough time to individually thank each one of you on your blogs, but work is not allowing for such freedom, and pregnancy knocks me out at 7 pm :) Soooo...to each and everyone of you wonderful blogger friends, THANK YOU!!!!

When my mom found out she was pregnant with me, my dad brought her home a beautiful bouquet of carnations...3 pink and 3 blue. After about a week or so, all 3 of the blue carnations wilted and died, but the 3 pink carnations kept going strong. 9 months later, they had a girl!

So after revealing to my family over the Easter weekend that we're having a baby, my dad sent me a beautiful bouquet on Monday morning, 3 blue carnations and 3 pink carnations!! Everyone in the office has heard the story of these flowers, and we are all watching intently to see which ones die first!

Of course, we know that the Lord has already knew this baby before it was conceived, and the bouquet is just for fun. We will not be relying on these flowers to determine the sex of our baby :) But it is fun to have this new Family Tradition for all of us girls when we're pregnant!

So, I'll be sure to keep you all posted. The previous picture above is from the day they were delivered, on Monday. Here's the most recent photo from today. As of now, they all seem to be holding on strong!!!

Husband and I are HAVING A BABY! Yep, we've got a pregnancy going on here at The Pink Potpourri!!!

Right now I am at 12 1/2 weeks! Our Little Pumpkin is due October 22!

We were very blessed to discover we were pregnant on Valentine's weekend! Here's the picture:

I saw one of my blogger friends do this through her pregnancy, so I thought it would be a lot of fun to try to keep up. Each week (or two) I want to take a Belly Bump progression picture, noting the week and "fruit size" of the baby! I didn't start until week 11...

Husband and I mutually agreed to wait until the end of the 1st Trimester to share the news, even with family. Although it was difficult not to share such a wonderful joy, it was a very special time for us to keep this just between the two of us. And it also gave for some extra planning time on how to break the news with everyone else!

My family is a big fan of the game Apples to Apples. In this game everyone has cards with nouns on them. Each player takes a turn with a verb card, and your goal is for the person with the verb card to pick your noun card.

Confused yet? Anyways, we knew playing this game would be the only way to get everyone gathered around the table at the same time (except for meals). So Husband and I went through and put all the verb cards that would fit pregnancy on top...Amazing, Exciting, Unbelieveable, Memorable....then we pulled out one of the blank cards and put:

With our scheme, my Dad was the victim....we had him choose the first verb card. Zack had the "We're Pregnant!" card in his pocket and slid it into his playing cards. He was the last one ot put this card on the stack. My dad flipped over all the cards and started laying them out on the table. He gets to the last card and says, "We're pregnant?"

All eyes graze over to us...dead silence...5 seconds pass..."really?" my mom says. "Yes, we're pregnant!" Husband declares...

A few more seconds of shock...tick, tick, tick, LIGHTBULB!

"OH MY GOODNESS!!" chairs are flying, people are jumping, hugs are being given everywhere! The rest of the evening was all about Little Pumpkin :)

The next two days were filled with shopping. Husband and I hadn't bought one single baby thing since we found out we were pregnant. That's what Mom's and Sisters are for :)

We began our day with a strong breakfast for energy at one of our favorite cafe's:

Next we walked down the shopping center to one of our favorite baby stores, Carters. We found SO many cute things! They have all their holiday outfits on sale, so we bought some Thanksgiving and Christmas goodies for Little Pumpkin.

And finally, we topped off the day with a new wardrobe of maternity clothes! I know I'm only at 12 weeks, but I already can barely zip up my pants anymore! Thank you, Lord, for spandex!

It was a wonderful Easter weekend of special memories during this amazing time in our lives. My family was so excited and supportive of our growing family, and blessed us so much with so many gifts!

Yesterday during our Easter Church Service we were able to tell our friends the great news. It was an incredible experience bring glory to our Lord for blessing us with this child. After church we had a huge Easter lunch with friends, and then took our 2009 Parker Family Easter photos:

This is me and Little Pumpkin at 12 1/2 weeks in my new maternity Easter dress! I'm pretty sure the bump is half baby, half easter feast :)

THE CULPRETS:

We are dog sitting my sister's dog, Sookie, this week (the white dog). We are not used to watching Fez 24/7...but when two puppies get together, crazy things happen. I think they egg each other on. They enjoy running figure "8's" through the house...they start in the sunroom, dash through the kitchen, scrambled around the couch, jump up on the chair, and use it for take off to make it back into the sunroom.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you. And I know how much Fez enjoys Sookie being here because they have so much fun running, and terrorizing, together. It's super easy to control your own dog which you have already trained. But even two trained dogs together decide they can take on one owner...

Here is my big, huge thought for today...

*I L-O-V-E the follower application on the Dashboard. I have a loooong list of blogs I follow, and I keep them all on my "favorites" tab. But now that I've figured out how this "Follwer" feature works, all I have to do is go to the dashboard and it lists all of my favorite blogs that have recently updated! So, that is how I'm keeping up with all of you now, instead of going down the long list, wondering if you've updated yet :) You all should definitley TRY IT! Or, you guys have known about this since day one and I'm just now figuring it out :)

*A strong cup of coffee made by my avid coffee drinking husband should not be consumed at 6:45 am without eating breakfast. Shakey-sweatey and bouncing off the walls will occur.

*I am SUPER excited about the donator for my giveaway APRIL 17. Mark it on your calendar and come back and enter to win!

*A bouquet of huge, red sunflowers for $6.99 at Kroger can brighten anyones day :)

This weekend at Sam's, the husband and I were there scoping out the free samples. We came across a sweet lady passing out cheese and crackers. We sampled both kinds of cheese. I thought they were ok, and the husband made one of these looks:

The lady just looked at him. I think she really wanted to roll her eyes.

But behind her there was a cheese display, and a 3 pack of these...

Although we didn't get to sample them, Husband had full confidence in them, so I threw them in the cart. I was thinking to myself..."this is going to be a waste of money. You'd have to eat like 3 wedges to get anything out of it." Oh, how I was wrong.

I am in love. With cheese. With Laughing Cow cheese. I obsess over when I can get another wedge, pull back the foil top and dip my naked crackers into this lucious, creamy, filling 35 calorie treat. Don't judge me for licking the wrapper...

Seriously, go get you a round. You'll thank me :)

monday mayhem - back pains back

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

As for me, I spent a majority of mine here: (but ours is actually leather)

Being the wife of a health nut, I somehow got pulled into working out with the husband on Saturday afternoon. I walked briskly for about 30 min, and figured I'd do some toning with the big work out ball. I've recently been taking a toning class and we usually warm up by holding the ball and making circular movements from our torso, using all ab and back muscles.

Well, I started doing them, and about 10 circles into it..."snap!" I heard it and felt it in my lower back.

Now, if you're an avid reader of my blog, you'll recognize this exact same picture from last summer, when i REALLY threw my back out. I could.not.move. At all. This time its not as severe, but it hurts pretty bad.

So I spent the rest of Saturday afternoon, evening and allllll day and evening Sunday staying off my back. It was nice to relax and have Hubby do all the regular mrs. chores, but a girl can get bored after awhile!

I checked out Hulu...not having cable I was able to watch lots of shows I never get to see!

I've been at work about a half hour now...and the pain is already kicking in. Curious to see how things go today...

I had so much fun reading your thoughts last week, I think I'm going to do it again this week...

My current thoughts...

-I CAN'T believe I messed up the simple egg omlete for the office birthday party. How could I be so dumb as to put a whole pint of heavy whipping cream in instead of 1 1/4 cups? Well...at least people still ate it.

-Why didn't I wear my awesome rain boots today? Clearly, its raining!

-DWTS clearly made the right choice ditching Denise. She was horrible.

-Don't forget to do the homework assignment before class tonight! I'll put a post-it on my desk right now...

-My happy thought for the day...Zack doesn't have to go to work today...BUT there are about 3 huge-normous stacks of plates, cookware and cups from our party last night and my chaotic omlete and muffin making this morning that HE gets to clean :)

I always have to have something on my lips...chapstick, lip gloss, or lip stick. I can't leave the house without it on. I even have a little zip up bag full of selections that never leaves my purse.

InStyle has named the MAC Lipglass one of their best beauty buys for 2009. After I run out of all the ones I already have, this will be my next selection.

The only thing I'm super stingy about with lip gloss is the sticky factor. I HATE lip glosses that your hair gets stuck in when the wind blows, or your husband makes a sour face when he tries to kiss you and has to wipe the sticky goop off his own lips. Once that happens, I throw out the tube.

That's why I love Sephora's new lip gloss. I got three trial tubes for a birthday gift from Sephora and LOVE THEM. They are three different shades, each with a light flavor and no stickiness. My most fav is the Bronzed Beauty.

Now if I'm not dressing up, or feeling really laid back for the day, I'll just wear my most favorite chapstick, SoftLips vanilla. My second favorite flavor is cherry :) But hands down this is the best chapstick. Its sleek, the flavors are delicious and it gives your lips a bit of a tingle when you apply it!

And finally, if I'm feeling very fashionable or dressy, my most favorite lip stick is Clinique's Butter Surge Color Shine Lipstick in Perfect Plum. Its the best color for my skin tone and goes with pretty much any outfit I have on. I love it!

Monday Mayhem - Retro Bowl

We had a fabulous weekend! Friday night we ran some errands together, and ate a lovely chinese dinner at the mall. I'm always craving their bourbon chicken and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice! Saturday we joined Sam's Club (I think it was a great decision for us!) and went to some great friend's house for a wonderful evening of food and fellowship.

Sunday we hit up our local Good Will stores in search for the perfect Retro Attire for our college Retro Bowl last night. Oh, we hit the jackpot. Here are a few pictures from our outting last night! We ate dinner at Taco Bueno and bowled a few $2 games!

-I hope Fez isn't throwing up all over our bed (last night we went for a walk down to McD's and back...during our journey, Fez ate three sandwich crackers, half of a burger bun, a jelly bean, a few bites of Zack's ice cream, and then some surprise stuff in the back yard...)

-My cheerios taste stale this morning...do they have cereal in the cafe?

-Did I switch the laundry over? Or will I be re-washing that last load...

-Why are apartments so close together? Why aren't they called "closements" or "stackments"?

I haven't been to the mall in ages. But Hubby and I ended up there this weekend to run a few errands, and I saw these dresses in every store!!! I absolutely L-O-V-E them.

I must say...I'm not a huge fan of the super low cut, spaghetti strap tops, but that's nothing a cute little sweater can't cover up!

I love how these dresses drape to the floor. I actually saw a girl at church on sunday wearing one of these, and it just flowed with her as she walked along. Ohhhh....I think I could buy like 10 of these things!!! Here are my favorites I scoped out...

Are any of you members at Sam's Club? The Hubby and I were discussing this weekend if we felt it would be a good investment of $30 a year. Of course items are cheaper there, but we have never really bought anything in bulk.

Of course, my most favorite reason for wanting to join Sam's is the free samples :) Who doesn't love getting a buffet of goodies that fills you up like an entire meal? But I have to put all the economical reasons in there for the hubby's sake :)

Also, this past week the close neighbors of my sister and her husband committed suicide. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.

And a few days ago, this murder and fire occured in the neighborhood my parents used to live in.

I am posting these for Thoughtful Thursday not to bring everyone down, but to remind each of us what a blessing every day of life is. Please take a few moments today to think of and pray for these families who are enduring the loss of their innocent loved ones this week.

My mom sent me this video the other day. It cracks me up because it reminds me of our dog, Fez. Everytime we go fishing, or he has his doggy pool out, he loves to try to get floating objects to come to him the same way as this dog! He thinks his little puppy paw is going to be strong enough to get the fishies to come to him!

On the other hand, I'm a bit curious abou this video. Who has a square foam board conveniently laying in their pool like that???

Trendy Tuesday: Spring is springing

It's going to be a high of 81 degrees here today!!!

Oh, I am sooo excited! I am soaking up every moment of it that I can today, as the high tomorrow will be only 43 :(

Anyways, back to today...So I am always a bit flustered this time of year, because warmer weather reaquaints itself with us during this month, but on the other hand, my poor little legs haven't seen a ray of direct sunlight since last October.

So the question is...when is it safe to wear a skirt with bare legs? I was going to wear this really cute dress today, but I did not want to expose my pastey whites.

But on the other hand, who wears leather boots on an 80 degree day?

So this time of year, what is best to do? I opted out completely and went with another pair of dress pants :( But they're pink, so that's springy!

monday mayhem - fez fur

Is Monday seriously here already? Is it just me or did I blink and the weekend was over???

We had a fantastic time on Friday evening with our friends. Our city has a trolley hop the first Friday of the month where restaurants and stores stay open late and you can take a free trolley up and down the street to shop and eat. We check out some fantastic stores, got our pictures taken in a photo booth and watched a glass blowing demonstration!

Saturday was house maintenance day! We picked up TONS of sticks and limbs covering our back yard, cleaned the car, did some re-planting and gave Fez his annual spring hair cut. I'm not sure if these pictures do any justice, but everytime we do this, he gets his neck back and loses about ten pounds :) Here are the befores...

And afters! Can you see the smile on his face? He feels so free and light...

Can you tell how much he loves getting his picture taken? He knows how to pose for the camera. We tell him all his lady dog friends will be looking at these, so that's why he makes these poses :)

Bad news here at The Pink Potpourri HQ...we had a donator set up to be featured this weekend and donate an awesome giveaway, but she did not deliver. The date was set but I never heard back from her this week as planned, so I post here empty handed.

No worries, though, NEXT friday we have a terrific giveaway that has already been confirmed :) I am so excited! The winner will smell terrific....oh, I've said too much :)

I've watched this over and over and crack up every time :) Our family dog, Daisy, used to run in her sleep, but nothing like this! She would just move her little paws back and forth and make noises! We think she was chasing bunny rabbits...or maybe a life-sized dog bone :)

Monday Mayhem - iPhone apps

The Hubby had a long weekend of studying to do. I had a few loads of laundry, so I had some extra time on my hands. I spent a majority of my lazy weekend curled up on the couch by the warm fire :) So I thought I'd do some iPhone app shopping. Here are my new addictions...

Ohhhh man. This is the best game ever. They have different versions (like amounts in the cases) that you can play. I have beat the banker every time!!! Hubby played and won a million dollars! If you love the show, you'll LOVE this game.

When we would go to Chuck E. Cheese as kids, I dominated this game. This is where I always racked up all my tickets to get the awesome prizes. And now its on the iPhone. It's like a dream come true. And very hard to play just once!!!

The other app I downloaded is a TV.com app. I can watch episodes of my favorite shows from a select choice of tv stations, such as CBS and CW. I had a very content weekend!

Thoughtful Thursdays - Bear

My parents have recently been cleaning out their storage area, sifting through hundreds of boxes of saved things from all of our family, including all three of us girls who no longer live there.

So when they were in town last weekend, they brought me a box filled with childhood memories. I had bags full of cards I had received in college, first place ribbons from dance competitions, some of my porcelain dolls I have collected and my most favorite, Bear!

I remember getting Bear in the 4th or 5th grade...our family was at Sam's Club and either my grandparents or parents told my sister and I that we could each pick out one toy (this is my childhood rememberance...Mom if you're reading this and it didn't really happen this way, be sure to leave a comment on the real story!). Anyways, from what I remember, there was a big huge bin of these teddy bears and I chose this one.

Bear and I spent many years together. He sat on my bed during the day, curled up with me under the sheets at night, supported my head when I needed an extra pillow to sit up and read, absorbed all my tears when I cried, and took some good punches and pokings to the face when I needed to vent...

I'm pretty sure he also did some extensive family trip traveling as well. To me, Bear was a BIG bear. He seemed huge. He would fit right in with the shape of my body when I curled up on my side to sleep at night. I could hug him and it felt like he was actually hugging me back!

This weekend when I took him out of the box, he appeared to have shrunk. He did not seem quite as huge to me. But as we all know, you shrink when you get older :)

So thanks, Bear, for always beign there for me. Thanks for being a best friend, a confidant and a comforter. And thanks for noting holding a grudge against me for shoving you in a storage box for over 10 years...You have that same loving glow to your face as the day I put you in there.

Well, now Bear is a part of our new family. He may not be sitting on my bed anymore, but he is at our house. In a safe place. Fez wasn't took keen about his new "brother"...he had a few ways of expressing his thoughts to Bear...he doesn't like anyone coming in and stealing all the attention...

I'm sure most of you saw the wonderful Oscars this past Sunday. My most favorite part is the red carpet because I want to see what everyone's wearing, and then hear the trash talk about it on Monday :)

This year I seemed to notice a pattern...did you? It appeared to me that the majority was wearing either cream, black or dark shades of blue...

What are they trying to say? Are creams and dark blues now in fashion for the season? I hope not...cream does nothing for my hair and complexion colors...I'd be white as a ghost!

Monday Mayhem - Lazy Weekend

Well, our weekend was so laid back and uneventful that I have nothing to write about, and no pictures taken. Our weekend can basically be summed up with the following...

We had a fire going in the fireplace alllll weekend.

We watched three movies...

(This one is The Rocker...I didn't want to post the actual dvd cover...he's standing there in his underwear!)

And capped off the weekend with a wonderful, but short, visit from my parents. They brought me another box of my childhood belongings. There were a few dolls and my FAVORITE childhood toy, Bear! I'll have to post a picture of him sometime :) Hope you all had a great weekend!
