Hilarities, House, Hiatus

Happy Hump Day! Today is actually my "friday" with this holiday weekend, so I'm in a pretty good mood!

Hilarities
My mom introduced us all to Bobee, the pond bird a few months back. well, he's up to his same old hilarities, but yesterday, the Geese were taking the stage with their attempts to walk across the frozen pond...this looks like a scene from American's Funniest Home Videos!

AND this is hilarious as well...we sweet secretaries are the only ones at work today, so we decided to watch some videos and this one had us almost wetting our pants...

House

So, my hubby and I just bought our second house. we own two houses! that's really weird to think about. We're renting out the first one that you've watched us renovate, and just began unpacking in this new home last night! We're excited because the square footage has tripled, it has an attached garage (which is rare for his housing area) and we're completely remodeling the 2nd floor into a master bedroom and bath! Here's a few pictures of our new home...

Hiatus!
Happy Thanksgiving! Due to traveling and unpacking the house, I will return to updating the blog next monday!

I feel like a kid again...

We wrapped up our sight seeing at Santa Monica Pier. After having lunch at Disney Cafe, we headed over to the pier. It was so beautiful! Here are some pictures of us "being kids again", riding the merry-go-round, checking out some games, and watching the ferris wheel! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day of touring!

Yes, Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel...an "A"!

Thursday had arrived. I'd been waiting my whole life (it seemed like) for this day.

All the contestants had to be in the lobby by 7:15 to catch the shuttle to Sony Studios by 7:30. We arrived in the parking garage and waited for the producer to pick us up. There were 20 of us...3 contestants for 6 show tapings and two alternates. I must say, it was a lively group.
Although I cannot share too many details, I can tell a few bits of "A Day in the Life of A Wheel of Fortune Contestant". It's like your a celebrity for a day! They filed us in a single line from the parking garage into the WOF studio...we weren't allowed to talk to or make eye contact with any of the employees, and we walked directly into a small room where we spent the rest of the day.
There were chairs, a table full of food, and a door that connected into the make up room. Restroom visits had to be authorized by the producers. Some might call it a jail...but if you think about it, they can't take any chances of sneaky cheaters :)
We had plenty of time to practice spinning the wheel, screaming letters, and solving fake puzzles. Here's a few facts I learned that are deceptive on the television:
*The studio is so much smaller in person than it appears on the screen. Amazingly smaller.

*There is a flat screen hidden that the contestants can refer to to see what letters are still available
*When you stand behind the wheel at your color assignment, they adjust the floorboard! That way, everyone has more of an even height when they stand together.
*During EVERY commercial break, contestants turn around and walk off the wheel, where the producers tell them what's happening next, the make up lady does touch ups and water is served.

*You are not allowed to look at or speak to any of your friends or family in the audience at ANY time.

It was the most incredible day ever. Being a huge fan of WOF and watching it my whole life, it was incredible to see Pat and Vanna, watch what really happens behind the scene and actually get to be a part of it!

Like I said yesterday, they don't allow cameras on the set, so I have nothing to show, but of course you can see it on TV on Friday, December 19th!

And oh, a little side story...My mom said that when I came out on the floor before my show started taping, she was watching me get my mic put on, make up touched up and final rules being explained. She noticed how calm I was, and how I didn't seem nervous at all. As she's noticing this, she also notices my husband rocking back and forth, clenching his hands...almost hyperventelating. She asks him if he's ok, and he says, "Yes, I'm just really neverous". My Mom said that the last time she saw him like that was on our wedding day. :) How incredibly cute and sweet is that?!?

After the taping, I met up with my hubby and parents and we took a few pictures. We also found this great restaurant, The Warehouse, on the marina where we had our celebratory dinner. LOOK! You can see my ACTUAL WOF NAMETAG! :) Yes, they let you keep them!

We had the most incredible steaks for dinner. They were delicious. This is us, after our feast, leaning back with our full tummies :)

And also, since it was the night before Halloween, the restaurant was decked out Halloween style. This guy was by the door, passing out mints. Do you think this is a real guy? Or a maniqune? :)

And finally, after a wonderful day, we took a bottle of sparkling white grape juice down to the hot tub at the hotel and had our own mini celebration. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

Hollywood Superstar

I have returned! Refreshed, rejuvenated and a celebrity :)

Well, maybe not the last one, yet...but after Friday, December 19, everyone will have seen me as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune and want my autograph...maybe even to be interviewed on Regis and Kelly Live or something :)

An extra week of sabbatical was added on due to the job change fiasco that awaited my return on Monday. Things have been too busy during this transition to come back to The Pink Potpourri, so thank you for your patience during this time!

This week is going to be a bit different...because the trip was so long and so extensive, I will be putting up some pictures from the trip each day and sharing about it! Cameras were NOT allowed in the Sony Studios where Wheel of Fortune is taped, so I won't be able to show you any pics of that, but you'll be able to see for yourself how it went on Friday, December 19th!

I know what you're thinking..."Enough of the blah, blah, blah. Let's see some pictures!" So here ya go...

We arrived in Los Angeles a day early, so we decided to check out some of the local hot spots. Before the sun set, we went to the pier on Venice Beach...

My parents arrived earlier in the week, and had already scoped out some great places to visit and eat. They took us to this little italian outdoor restaurant right down the street from the pier. i could have eaten EVERYTHING. they serve these unlimited mini rolls covered with oil and spices. it was pure goodness.

doesn't this pictures make your mouth water? it was the best combination of spices ever...

since this was an outside dining area, there was this beautiful fountain. we're enjoying our lovely dinner, and all of a sudden we hear this rapid splashing a squaking. a posse of birds had decided it was bathtime! by the time i got my camera out, only one bird was left, but there were about 5 or 6 of these guys flailing their wings everywhere. i'm glad they didn't seat us next to the fountain :)

we also went and did some sight seeing at a few of these locations. we have tons of pictures so i'll put more "detailed" ones up later this week.
And finally, upon returning to our hotel room, we found this gift arrangement from my parents! since they had been there a few days ahead of us for a business trip, they got us these great gifts when they toured Sony Studios!
Well, its great to be back. I can't wait to catch up with all of you!!
